There are rumors that Glenburgie started as an illegal whisky distillery in 1810, but formally this Speyside distillery was founded in 1829. Under the name Kilnflat. Only in 1978, after a period of closure, did the distillery reopen under the name of Glenburgie. Although there have been around 20 distillery bottlings over time, production has always focused on the blends (in particular Balantine’s). And even now. Here we forget for a moment the 20 years that Glenburgie distilled a malt under the name Glencraig with 2 special stills. Those stills are no longer there and Glencraig is now quite rare.
