There was once a Dumbarton single malt whisky distillery, in the same town of Dumbarton in the Scottish Lowlands where the Dumbarton grain whisky distillery was founded in 1938. The latter is the issue here. The grain distillery was of course set up to supply grain whisky for the blend industry. Only 1 real distillery bottling is known. And there are more than 70 independent Dumbarton bottlings. The distillery closed in 2002 and was demolished in 2005.
