Like so many Scottish distilleries, Glenlochy was founded during the 'whisky boom' at the end of the 19th century. The single malt whisky distillery located in the western Highlands, as well as many others, experienced various periods of closure and changes of ownership, and Glenlochy was finaly closed on January 1, 1983. The majority of the distillery has since been demolished. Not much is left of the not so large whisky legacy, except for the very high ratings for the more than 100 known bottlings. The last new bottlings seemed to have appeared in 2015, until Gordon & MacPhail released a new, 42-year-old, bourbon-matured bottling in 2023.
