One of the two northernmost distilleries in Scotland. The Scapa Dsitillery is located just a little further south than that of Highland Park on the main island of the Orkneys. Unlike its fellow-islander, Scapa has always remained somewhat in the background. Other differences are that Scapa single malt whisky matures almost exclusively on bourbon casks, and that the distillery, apart from their Glansa edition, produces only non-peated whisky. Scapa was closed for a number of years around the turn of the century. Every year a group of Highland Park employees came to run a small distillation round. In 2004, Scapa was fully operational again.
