With the distillation license that King James grants to Thomas Philips of Antrim, Ireland in 1608, the history of what is now the oldest whisky distillery in the world begins: Bushmills.
The distillery still produces its Single Malt Irish Whiskey according to the triple distillation process that is widely used in Ireland. The process still requires a lot of manual work and production is in small batches. Bushmills also produces among others for the Knappogue Castle brand.
