From sawmill converted into single malt whisky distillery, the Dufftown Distillery opened its doors in 1896. In Dufftown, Speyside. The distillery survived the worldwide whisky crisis that followed soon. In 1933 Arthur Bell & Sons Ltd. became owner of Dufftown and from that moment the distillery became a major malt whisky supplier for Bell’s blended whisky (just like Dufftown itself now owned by Diageo). Dufftown has always been modest in distillery bottlings. These days distillery bottlings come under the Singleton brand as Singleton of Dufftown.
