Founded in 2013 in Hokkaido, Japan, the Akkeshi Distillery is sometimes referred to as 'the little Lagavulin' because of its similarities with that famous Scottish distillery. Akkeshi uses traditional Scottish Forsyth stills, and when they use peated barley malt, their single malt whisky gets a real Islay character.
