This 23-year-old single malt whisky from Bushmills Distillery, was bottled by Irish bonder J.J. Corry for Whiskybase! The malt matured in a Kentucky bourbon cask and is limited to just 150 bottles at 50.9% cask strength.
Nose: Juicy golden raisins, mangoes, fresh apples, golden kiwis, honey candies, chocolate-dipped bananas, panettoneTaste: Rich nougat, honeycomb, yellow apples, kumquats, dried pineapples, hibiscus tea, peaches, peach skinsFinish: Extremely long and inviting. Ripe plums, donut peaches, blackberries, coconut pastry
Overall: Wonderful from the first nosing. The “Irishness” is almost immediately recognizable with its inviting fruits and desserty notes. Mature thickness on the palate makes this an easy sipper. And the super-long finish means each sip lasts and lasts. We clearly need to be drinking more Old Bushmills! What a find from our friends at J.J. Corry!
