In Perth, Scotland, Decadent Drinks is always looking for unique whisky, cognac and rum to bottle. One of the founders is whisky writer and blogger Angus MacRaild. His whisky bottlings come out under the WhiskySponge brand. This series was discontinued after 100 editions. Other Decadent Drinks series include Equinox & Solstice, Whiskyland, and Decadent Drams.
The labels of each bottling are original and humorous.
The 2023 autumn edition of Decadent Drinks series Equinox & Solstice is a bottling of two refill bourbon casks in which Aberfeldy single malt whisky matured for 10 years. Robust and full of character, this is a perfect warming whisky for the autumn. 48.5%
The latest edition in the Equinox & Solstice series from Decadent Drinks, for Spring 2026, is a 10-year-old peated Ardnamurchan single malt. The bottling is a marriage of two casks: a first-fill and a refill bourbon cask. At 48.5% series strength.
This Balblair single malt matured for 17 years in a 1st-fill bourbon cask. This resulted in a sweet, opulent whisky with a distinctly distillery character. Decadent Drinks bottled it at 56.2% cask strength. Lots of honey, but also floral and herbal notes.
Decadent Drinks presents an exemplary 12-year-old Ben Nevis single malt whisky, matured in a first-fill bourbon cask. It's a full-bodied, waxy dram with a diverse range of flavours, from lemon to barley porridge, and from menthol to jute. (53% ABV)
A solid sherryed, 28-year-old Benrinnes, which Decadent Drinks discovered in the warehouses of fellow bottler Signatory Vintage; naturally, it had to be bottled! The Speyside single malt matured in a first-fill sherry cask. (220 bottles, 53% ABV)
The Speyside malt Braeval is one of those whiskies you'll mainly find as an independent bottling. And here it even features as the main character in Chapter 26 of Decadent Drink's Whiskyland series. It matured for 36 (!) years in a bourbon cask. (51.6%)
O.I. (Old Islay) is a sub-series of Decadent Drinks' Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky. This 21-year-old Bunnahabhain appeared in that O.I. series in 2026. A seriously sherryed bottling: matured in Oloroso and PX casks, finished in another PX cask! (55%)
The whiskies in Decadent Drinks' Equinox & Solstice series are always bottled at the easy drinking strength of 48.5%. That goes also for this Autumn Edition, a Caol Ila single malt whisky that matured for 11 years in an Oloroso European oak cask.
This Deanston bottling beautifully blends the fresh, fruity distillery profile with the influence of the premium bourbon cask in which the single malt matured for 8 years. Besides the fruit, there are notes of butter, grain, spice, and minerality. (53%)
Perhaps the humorous text on the front and back labels holds hints as to which single malt whisky is behind the name Glenlitigious. It's certainly a Speysider that matured for 12 years in a second-fill sherry cask. (Bottled by Decadent Drinks at 50.0%)
This Old Mull was released in Decadent Drinks' Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky series. It's a Ledaig, the peated version of the whisky from Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. After 20 years of maturation in a bourbon cask, it was bottled at 53.1% ABV.
The Scottish Decadent Drinks released this Millstone single malt whisky, distilled at the Dutch Zuidam Distillery. The malt matured for 11 years in a PX sherry cask and was bottled in 2025 at a cask strength of 51.1% in a limited edition of 320 bottles.
This is the winter edition 2023 from the Equinox & Solstice series by Decadent Drinks. An 11-year-old Miltonduff single malt whisky that matured in a sherry cask. A comfortably warm dram, 'a wealth of warmth, ruddy fruits...', as the label says. (48.5%)
This Mortlach matured for 20 years in a first-fill bourbon cask before being bottled by Decadent Drinks at 50.1% in just 174 bottles. The Speyside single malt whisky is complex and full-flavoured, an oily dram, floral, fruity, and with sweet malty notes.
An O.O. whisky? Absolutely! This is a bottling from Decadent Drinks' Old Orkney (O.O.) series. It is clear that this is a Highland Park single malt. The Orkney whisky matured for 8 years in American oak bourbon and sherry casks. (47% ABV)
The Pittyvaich Distillery closed in 1993 after being in operation for less than twenty years. The chance of further bottlings of the single malt whisky being released diminishes by the year. But here is one, aged for 35 years (!) in a sherry cask. (44.3%)
With its Teuchter bottlings, Decadent Drinks aims to celebrate the wild spirit of the Highlands through modern, vibrant single malts. Starting with this 17-year-old, highly enjoyable Tomatin, matured in a first-fill sherry cask. (46.3%)
