In Perth, Scotland, Decadent Drinks is always looking for unique whisky, cognac and rum to bottle. One of the founders is whisky writer and blogger Angus MacRaild. His whisky bottlings come out under the WhiskySponge brand. This series was discontinued after 100 editions. Other Decadent Drinks series include Equinox & Solstice, Whiskyland, and Decadent Drams.
The labels of each bottling are original and humorous.
The 2023 autumn edition of Decadent Drinks series Equinox & Solstice is a bottling of two refill bourbon casks in which Aberfeldy single malt whisky matured for 10 years. Robust and full of character, this is a perfect warming whisky for the autumn. 48.5%
This Ben Nevis single malt whisky first matured for almost 8 years in a bourbon cask and then for another 5 years in a first-fill sherry cask. You can hardly call that 'finishing' anymore. The Highlander was bottled by Decadent Drinks at 53.0% ABV.
The whiskies in Decadent Drinks' Equinox & Solstice series are always bottled at the easy drinking strength of 48.5%. That goes also for this Autumn Edition, a Caol Ila single malt whisky that matured for 11 years in an Oloroso European oak cask.
A warm, dense dram where the many notes and aromas battle for dominance: that's how you could describe this Glen Moray single malt whisky. The Speysider matured for 10 years in a second-fill sherry cask before Decadent Drinks bottled it at 57.1% ABV.
Behind yet another original Decadent Drinks label lies a 13-year-old Glencadam. This Highland single malt whisky matured in a bourbon cask and is slightly reduced to 53% ABV. This bottling clearly showcases the fresh, fruity character of the distillery.
Perhaps the humorous text on the front and back labels holds hints as to which single malt whisky is behind the name Glenlitigious. It's certainly a Speysider that matured for 12 years in a second-fill sherry cask. (Bottled by Decadent Drinks at 50.0%)
A new bottling in Decadent Drinks' Equinox & Solstice series, the Autumn Edition 2025. It's a Mannochmore single malt whisky that matured for 15 years in two refill bourbon casks. The whisky is bottled at the characteristic 48.5% ABV for this series.
This is the winter edition 2023 from the Equinox & Solstice series by Decadent Drinks. An 11-year-old Miltonduff single malt whisky that matured in a sherry cask. A comfortably warm dram, 'a wealth of warmth, ruddy fruits...', as the label says. (48.5%)
You don't often come across Highland Distillery Pulteney's single malt whisky as an independent bottling, but here we have one. From Decadent Drinks. It's an Old Pulteney, matured for 11 years in a first-fill bourbon cask, bottled at 53% ABV.
With its Teuchter bottlings, Decadent Drinks aims to celebrate the wild spirit of the Highlands through modern, vibrant single malts. Starting with this 17-year-old, highly enjoyable Tomatin, matured in a first-fill sherry cask. (46.3%)
After many changes in ownership and process, Tullibardine distillery has been operating at full capacity again since 2008. A fine example of the single malt they distil is this 11-year-old bottling, finished for two years in a sherry cask. (53%)
