This is a very special Millstone bottling: although Zuidam Distillers released its first Dutch Single Malt Whisky in 2007, the spirit for this edition went already in 1996 in the (Oloroso) cask! The whisky matured there for 19 years. (300 bottles, 49.4%)
Zuidam Distillers released its first Dutch Single Malt Whisky in 2007. Dozens of bottlings later, in 2015, there was this 5-year-old Millstone Lightly Peated. As the name suggests, this is a lightly peated single malt. Bottled at 40%.
This is Special Release #31 of Millstone Dutch single malt whisky from the Zuidam Distillery. And this bottling is certainly 'special', because the heavily peated whisky matured for 5 years in very rare, classic Palo Cortado sherry casks. (46%)
This is a rye whisky from the Dutch distillery Zuidam. The '92' stands for the strength of this whisky: 92 proof (= 46%). The whisky is distilled in small pot stills from 49% malted and 51% unmalted rye and matured in virgin American oak casks.
The Dutch Zuidam Distillers not only makes genever, liqueurs and gin, but also whisky. This is one of their single malt whiskies: the Millstone American Oak, made with both brewer's and distiller's yeast and matured in virgin American oak. (43%)
The Zuidam Distillery produces various types of whisky, including single malt whisky. This can be unpeated malt or malt that has been distilled from peated barley malt. This is one of them. The malt matured in casks of virgin American oak. (43%)
If you like rye whisky, then this Founder's Cask Reserve from the Zuidam distillery is definitely worth a try! The whisky, distilled from 100% rye, matured for 10 years in new American oak casks and is bottled in a limited edition at 52.6% cask strength.
A successful example of a 'modern' sherryed single malt whisky, this 10-year-old Macduff from Gordon & MacPhail. Aroma and taste are uncomplicated, with clearly recognizable sherry tones. A pleasantly drinkable dram for an evening with friends!
This is the winter edition 2023 from the Equinox & Solstice series by Decadent Drinks. An 11-year-old Miltonduff single malt whisky that matured in a sherry cask. A comfortably warm dram, 'a wealth of warmth, ruddy fruits...', as the label says. (48.5%)
The Distillery Reserve Collection is a series of bottlings of special whiskies from Chivas Brothers distilleries, all at cask strength. This bottle is from a 2018 edition: a 16-year-old, bourbon-matured Miltonduff single malt whisky. (56.6%)
The Miyagikyo distillery of the Japanese Nikka not only makes grain whisky, but also single malt. Such as this ageless bottling, for which a special, aromatic yeast was used during production. Not complex, nutty, fruity and sweet and well-balanced. (47%)
Not very complex, but a broad and elegant taste palette. Some call this single malt whisky from the Japanese Miyagikyo distillery a 'summer whisky'. Subtle notes of fruit, sherry, wood and grain and a hint of smoke: a pleasantly drinkable dram.
After the Monkey Shoulder blended malt whisky Smooth and Rich, William Grant & Sons now comes with the Monkey Shoulder Smokey Monkey. As the name implies, this blend of Scottish malts has smoky notes, besides notes like peach, apple, chocolate, and coffee
The Original is the motto of this Monkey Shoulder Batch 27-edition. This blended malt whisky from William Grant & Sons is a smooth, pleasantly drinkable blend of Speyside single malts Balvenie, Kininvie and Glenfiddich. For a great price! Bottled at 40%.
Mortlach distils their spirit not two or three times, but 2.81 times, which gives the single malt whisky a profile of its own. Gordon & MacPhail is known as a very good bottler. When added together, this guarantees a fine dram. 24 years old and at 46%.
Under the Chieftain label of bottler Ian Macleod, this Mortlach was released in 2017, bottled for the Taiwanese market. With its 20 years of maturation in a first-fill oloroso cask, it is a perfectly sherried single malt whisky. (57.7% ABV, score 89.8)
A special edition from the young, sustainable Nc'nean Distillery. The single malt whisky was aged for 35% in bourbon and for 65% in re-charred red wine casks, delivering a buttery and creamy taste, with notes of sweet fruit, caramel and toffee. (48,5%)
Has nothing to do with coffee, Coffey is the type of still with which this Japanese blended grain whisky is made. That resulted in a fruity, light, pleasantly drinkable dram, a whisky for those long summer evenings. Bottled at 45%.
That Coffey in the name refers to the type of still with which this whisky was made. Normally single malt whisky is made with pot stills. That makes this Japanese Nikka malt whisky quite special. This whisky received various prizes and awards. 45%
Oban is one of Scotland's oldest, still active distilleries. This 14-year-old standard malt shows the basic character of Oban well: juicy orange, malt, salty and a hint of smoke, oily in the mouth. And that for a reasonable price.
A not very complex, flexible young single malt whisky, this Oban Little Bay. He is reminiscent of Oban's 14-year standard bottling, but is sweeter and more malty. A great dram for everyday life, or for an evening with friends. Nothing wrong with it.
Originally available at travel retail, but that was years ago. This Octomore has matured in
Ex Eau-de-Vie Limousin Oak Casks. Giving it a very unique flavour profile. A perfect addition to your collection.
With a phenol rate of 258 ppm, this is a heavily peated Octomore single malt whisky. Fortunately, the peat smoke is not too dominant in this edition, as the alcohol percentage (64%!) is also well integrated in this malt distilled from Islay barley.
