100% peated, as the Indian John Distilleries says about the Paul John Peated single malt whisky. With 55.5% alcohol, this is a solid dram. John Distilleries has won a whole series of international whisky awards with a Peated from this series.
This Peat & Sherry Cask bottling is released exclusively for Canada in the Elements of Islay series. It is a sherry-matured blend of Islay single malt whiskies, bottled at a cask strength of 55.4% and has been awarded a Whiskybase score of 88 points.
If you are looking for an uncomplicated single malt whisky, for example for an evening with friends, then this Penderyn Legend is an option. Matured in bourbon and finished in madeira casks. Lots of fruit in the nose and light in taste. At 40%.
Penderyn, ever heard of it? This box is an introduction to this single malt whisky distillery that opened in Wales in 2004. Three single malts of which one finished in Madeira casks, one in red wine and the third is 'cask-peated'. 3 x 20 CL at 43%.
You will never know for sure which Islay single malt whisky a Port Askaig is, but with this 8-year-old dram you can taste that it is an Islay-peated whisky immediately. Despite its youth, it is quite complex, but very pleasant to drink. Bottled at 45.8%.
Port Charlotte has established itself this century among the big names in smoky Islay whiskies. It is one of two heavily peated single malt whiskies from the Bruichladdich distillery. And this is the 10-year-old standard PC, the 2020 release. (50%)
This is one of the very first Port Charlotte whiskies, the peated single malt from the Bruichladdich Distillery! Young, at 3 years old, and strong (62.7%), it was released in a private bottling in an edition of only 32 bottles. A piece of whisky history!

Every once in a while we have one in the shop, a Port Ellen. And now it's that time again! On the shelf is now a Port Ellen 8th Release, a Diageo Special Release. The almost legendary Islay single malt whisky matured for no less than 29 years. (55.3%)
The Port Ellen single malt certainly belongs in the list of legendary whiskies. And furthermore, this is an exceptional bottling of this Islay legend: vintage 1982 and bottled in 2005 as a 22-year-old, heavily sherried dram at a cask strength of 61.7%!
The history of Rebel whiskies goes back to 1849. Instead of distilling bourbon whiskey from corn and rye, the founders of Rebel Yell made their bourbon from corn and wheat. That makes this bourbon unique to this day. This edition is bottled at 55% ABV.
About 170 years ago, Rebel Yell already made bourbon whiskey from corn and wheat. And as this bourbon was made at the time, it is still made at Lux Row Distillers today. This Small Batch Reserve is said to have matured extra long. Bottled at 45.3%.
In addition to a unique bourbon whiskey, made from corn with wheat instead of rye, other whiskies are also made under the Rebel Yell brand. For example this straight rye whiskey. It was distilled in Indiana and aged for 2 years, and then bottled at 45%.

If you want to taste an Irish single pot still whiskey at cask strength, this 12 year old Redbreast is an option. Aged in bourbon and sherry casks. Pot still whiskey is made from barley malt and unmalted barley. This batch is at 57.2% cask strength.

With this 15-year-old Redbreast, the Irish Midleton distillery sets a good example of a pot-still whiskey. The whiskey is made from malted and un-malted barley, and after triple distillation matured in bourbon and sherry casks. At 46%.
Fruitier, more complex and subtle than his younger namesakes. That is the general impression of this 21-year-old Redbreast single pot-still whiskey. The perfect balance and the long finish are also praised. An Irish whiskey to indulge in!
We do not know the age of this Redbreast single pot-still whiskey, but we do know that it finished in 1st fill sherry casks. You can tell this by the typical sherry notes that are well balanced with the pot still notes. It remains a real Irish whiskey.
Douglas Laing is known for its blended malt whiskies. Their motto is: 'If a single malt is a violin, then a blended malt is an entire orchestra!'. Well-known are, for example, their Big Peat-blended Islay malts. This is also included in this sample set.
This Remus Repeal Reserve is a blend of five straight bourbon whiskeys from 8 to 14 years old. The share of rye in the mashbill of this bourbons ranges from 21% to 36%. The Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana released here a top bourbon. 50%
The idiosyncratic Reservoir Distillery (2008, Richmond, VA) not only distills bourbon, but also rye and wheat whisky. This is one of the latter. Like all their whiskies, this wheat whisky matured for at least 2 years in heavily charred casks. (50%)
Rittenhouse Straight Rye Whiskey is one of the types of American whiskey produced by Heaven Hill Distilleries Inc. As the name implies, Rittenhouse is made from rye. This bottling is 100 proof, so 50% ABV. For a nice price.
