The Dutch firm Van Wees has been in the wine and spirits business since 1921. How they ended up in the whisky world is a great story that also starts in that year with a sunken ship in the port of Rotterdam. Years later, Van Wees started their own bottlings in the series 'The Ultimate Single Malt Scotch Whisky Selection', simply The Ultimate. Since then, more than 1200 bottlings have appeared under that label. The company always tries to keep its bottles affordable.
In 2020, Van Wees bottled this Ballechin single malt whisky in their series The Ultimate - Cask Strength. Ballechin is the peated version of Edradour single malt. The malt matured for 11 years in a 1st fill sherry cask before being bottled at 59.4%.

In 2003 Edradour released their first peated single malt whisky under the name Ballechin. A very smoky single malt. For the series The Ultimate, Van Wees bottled this 10-year-old Ballechin. Matured in a sherry cask and bottled at cask strength (59.7%).
