Arran Distillery, founded in 1995, is the first new distillery on the Isle of Arran for more than 160 years. Once there were 50 distillers on the island, but they disappeared one by one. The new Arran Distillery is relatively small and is not afraid to experiment, for example with finishing in all kinds of casks, or with the use of prehistoric barley or with peated or unpeated malt. In the first few years, its own single malt bottlings were released under the brand The Arran Malt, now as Arran.
In 2011, the Isle of Arran Distillery released this special bottling, 'Sleeping Warrior', in 6000 bottles. The single malt whisky matured for more than 10 years in sherry, bourbon and red wine casks and was bottled at 54.9%. Youthful and complex.
In 2021, Drumadoon Point was released, the fourth edition in the Explorers Series from the Arran Distillery on the island of the same name. This Drumadoon Point is a 23-year-old single malt whisky that matured in sherry casks. It was bottled at 49.5% ABV.
