The Norwegian Aurora Spirit Distillery, the world's northernmost distillery (69˚N), produces whisky under the Bivrost (Northern Lights) brand. They distil it in a traditional way in high-tech equipment, using a complex fermentation process, from Nordic barley malt and glacier water. The distillery opened its doors in 2016, and the first single malt whiskies were released in 2020.
