The Glendalough Distillery was erected in 2011 by a group of friends just south of Dublin. With this distillery the friends want to make artisan whiskey (Irish whisky you write as 'whiskey'). Ireland is the country where whisky was invented. Glendalough produces single malt and single grain whiskey that is first aged in bourbon barrels before being finished, sometimes on very special wood such as Japanese oak.
In addition to whisky, the distillery produces gin and poitín, which is the 'primordial whiskey', bottled directly from the still.
The young Irish distillery Glendalough has released a single cask bottling of a blend of their own single malt and grain whisky. The blend matured on a bourbon barrel and was then finished on a Calvados XO cask. Now in our shop for a nice price.
If you want to try an Irish single grain whiskey, one that is aged on bourbon, and finished on sherry and then at a reasonable price: here is the Glendalough Double Barrel. Light, pleasant to drink, but also complex. Something different!
According to unconfirmed sources, this Irish Glendalough pot still whiskey is about four years old. The last year it matured in virgin oak casks. A pot still whiskey is made from malted and unmalted barley. For a nice price on our shelves now.
