The Glendalough Distillery was erected in 2011 by a group of friends just south of Dublin. With this distillery the friends want to make artisan whiskey (Irish whisky you write as 'whiskey'). Ireland is the country where whisky was invented. Glendalough produces single malt and single grain whiskey that is first aged in bourbon barrels before being finished, sometimes on very special wood such as Japanese oak.
In addition to whisky, the distillery produces gin and poitín, which is the 'primordial whiskey', bottled directly from the still.
A blended Irish whiskey from one distiller, this single cask bottling from the Glendalough Distillery near Dublin. A blend of their own single grain and single malt whiskies that are finished in a French oak Calvados XO cask. Special! For a nice price.
If you want to try an Irish single grain whiskey, one that is aged on bourbon, and finished on sherry and then at a reasonable price: here is the Glendalough Double Barrel. Light, pleasant to drink, but also complex. Something different!
The young Glendalough Distillery near Dublin specializes in maturing and finishing their craft whisky in special casks. This single pot still whiskey is finished in a cask made from an oak that stood in Ireland's Wicklow Mountains. Bottled 43%.
