In the 18th century, the grape grower T.V. Munson from Denison, Texas, managed to prevent the downfall of the French grape culture, i.e. wine culture, with a new grape variety he developed, the iron root. That earned Munson a high French decoration and the town of Denison an eternal bond with Cognac in France. And that inspired the brothers Robert and Jonathan Likarish in 2011 to delve into the distillation techniques for cognac. In 2014 they opened their distillery based on those techniques in Denison for the production of bourbon whisky.
'Made in Texas, Accredited in London' says the label of this bourbon whiskey distilled in the Ironroot Republic Distillery. London-based Berry Bros & Rudd bottled this Texas Legation Batch No.2 in 2018 in an edition of 5,000 bottles at 46.2%.
