In 1997, father and son Zoeller founded the Jefferson’s firm in the Kentucky Artisan Distillery, Crestwood, Kentucky. Jefferson’s not only bottles bourbon and rye whiskeys, but also experiments with their maturation and finishing. For example, barrels go on board a research vessel, so that the contents can mature at sea. Jefferson’s is also experimenting with maturing and finishing on various types of charred and un-charred oak.
You don't often come across whiskies like this! This Jefferson's Ocean is a sea-aged blend of bourbon whiskies. The whisky sloshing in the casks and the temperature differences during the journey ensured a strong cask influence and rapid maturation. (45%)
