The brand of the world's best-known and best-selling blended whisky. It started around 1825 in Kilmarnock, Scotland, where grocer John Walker mixed malt and grain whiskies for his customers on demand. After his death, his son Alexander came up with the name Johnnie Walker for the now popular self blended whiskies. The John Walker & Sons company grew, also through the purchase of distilleries, into a large group. The company is now part of the much larger Diageo group.
Something different from the well-known Red Labels, this 12-year-old Johnnie Walker Black Label blended whisky. It is the Anniversary Edition that was released in 2008, in a black bottle indeed. Where else can you find one like this? Well, with us!
The makers tasted in this whisky notes such as orange rind, marmalade and honey, and a spicy finish. This Black Label edition from Johnnie Walker is a blend of Highland single malt whiskies matured for 12 years. For a very reasonable price.
In 2005, Johnnie Walker introduced its Green Label, a blended malt whisky (so only single malt whiskies, no grain). Producer Diageo stopped producing this Green Label after a few years, but it is now re-released worldwide due to popular demand.
