The Bruichladdich Distillery on whisky island Islay produces standard, and under the brand name Bruichladdich a non-peated, non-smoky single malt whisky. But under the well-known brand names Port Charlotte and Octomore, the distillery does make peated single malt. Much less known is that Bruichladdich makes a whisky under the name Lochindaal that is in between the two well-known ones in terms of smokiness. Lochindaal is also the loch on which the villages of Port Charlotte and Bruichladdich lie.
The Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay makes an unpeated single malt whisky under its own name. They also produce the heavily peated Port Charlotte and the very heavily peated Octomore. And Lochindaal, which is in between. This one is 10 years old. (63.3%)
The first Lochindaal bottling in Speciality Drinks’ Elements of Islay series was released in 2016. The single malt whisky matured in first-fill bourbon casks, is bottled at 62.5% cask strength and awarded a Whiskybase score of a good 88 points.
