The relatively young (1971) Speyside distillery Mannochmore, built in Elgin, just behind the Glenlossie distillery, remained relatively unknown, partly because there were hardly any distillery bottlings. Until Mannochmore came up with its Loch Dhu in 1996: the Black Whisky. Mannochmore was notorious in one fell swoop. The black single malt was detested by most of the drinkers and caused a lot of commotion. The fact that Mannochmore can also make good single malts is proven by other distillery bottlings and numerous independent bottlings.
Bottler James Eadie released this 12-year-old Mannochmore in their Small Batch series. The Speyside single malt whisky matured in two casks: a 1st-fill bourbon hogshead and a re-charred butt. After blending, the whisky was bottled at 46% ABV.
Complex, fruity, balanced, and elegant—just a few of the characteristics of this 28-year-old Mannochmore single malt whisky. It features notes of tropical fruit, anise, toast, and spices. The whisky was bottled in 2016 by Antique Lions of Spirits at 47.9%
