Mars is a brand of the Japanese Mars Hombo Distillery (aka Shinshu Mars). The distillery of the Hombo family is the highest in Japan. In 1949, in addition to sake, single malt whisky was added to the repertoire. Until 1984, the distillery was still on a southern island, but in that year the Hombo family moved it to the mountains. Mars Hombo/Shinshu Mars did not produce whiskey between 1992 and 2011.
