McConnell's Irish Whisky was initially established in Belfast in 1776 by two brothers, John and James McConnell. After over 150 years of popularity, the brand ran into hard times due to a great fire and US Prohibition, ultimately closing its Belfast distillery in 1958. Conecuh Brands revived the brand, and a new distillery will open in Belfast in March 2024. Until the distillery can produce its own whisky, McConnel's Irish Whisky comes from The Great Northern Distillery in Ireland. And so it is McConnell's Irish Whisky without the 'e'.
