The Myken Destilleri produced the first newmake spirit in 2014, on the small island of Myken, 20 miles from the Norwegian mainland. Myken makes single malt whisky according to traditional Scottish rules, in small pot stills over direct fire. Myken selects the best quality oak casks for maturing the whisky. The distillery also makes gin.
In 2014 Myken Destilleri, the world's first Arctic whisky distillery, started in Norway. About 30 Myken bottlings have been released today, including this one: a private bottling for the Eekma family. It matured for 4 years in a sherry cask. (58.5%)
