Quite confusing, but the Saint Magdalene distillery that was founded in the Lowlands in 1798 is also known as the Linlithgow distillery. Until the distillery closed in 1983 (now demolished) only a handful distillery bottlings appeared. All but one as St Magdalene. Independent bottlings appear under both names. Or rather, appeared. Since 2015, almost no Linlithgow / St Magdalene bottling has been released. Under whatever name, the single malt whisky bottlings received a very high score on average.
This is a stunning release in the Rare Malts series: St Magdalene 1970. A phenomenal 92+ points and consistent high scores on the nose, taste and finish. Take into account that this is a closed distillery and from the early 70's: a rare find!
