As one of Diageo's Classic Malts, Talisker is the kind of single malt whisky brand that has bottles at every liquor store. The Talisker distillery is located on Scotland’s largest island, Skye, in the western Highlands. Since 1831. The distillery produces a medium-peated, robust single malt. Talisker was hit by a huge fire in 1960. This started with spirit that flowed out of the still during a distillation round through an accidentally open valve. The escaped spirit ignited with the result that the entire still-house burned to the ground. Only in 1962 was Talisker able to make whisky again.
This Diageo Special Release brings out the distinct character of Talisker single malt whisky with maritime notes of seaweed, sea salt and oysters, but there are certainly also fruity and spicy notes, alongside a medium smokiness. (8y, bottled at 58.7%)
