Mackinlay's whisky was once famous because polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton took crates of it with him on his expeditions. The bottle of 5-years-old blended Scotch whisky you see here was bottled for the French market decades ago. A special bottle.
A fine blended Scotch whisky from bottler and distiller Adelphi for a friendly price. A blend with 70% malt whisky (and our guess is that this is mostly Ardnamurchan single malt) and 30% grain. For 80% in bourbon and for 20% in sherry casks matured. (46%)
Bottler James Eadie released this 12-year-old Mannochmore in their Small Batch series. The Speyside single malt whisky matured in two casks: a 1st-fill bourbon hogshead and a re-charred butt. After blending, the whisky was bottled at 46% ABV.
Speyside Distillery Mannochmore shares some production facilities with nearby Glenlossie but has a character of its own. This 16-year-old bottling of the single malt whisky, that matured in a first-fill Oloroso cask certainly shows that. (54.7%)
This Kasei blended whisky is bottled by the Japanese Hombo Mars for the French La Maison du Whisky. Malt and grain whisky are brought together here in the smooth Mars style: floral, fruity notes and honey, with a hint of smoke. Bottled at 40%.
This Maltage from the Japanese Shinshu Mars distillery is a blend of single malt whiskies. Of course there is a single malt from Shinshu itself. But also Scottish malt. It is a rich, well-balanced, non-complex and pleasantly drinkable whisky.
Meikle Tòir is the peated variant of the single malt whisky from the Glenallachie distillery. This Original is 5 years old. It matured in a combination of bourbon and virgin casks and casks that previously contained rye whisky which makes one curious. 50%
Meikle Tòir, Glenallachie's new peated single malt whisky line, has three standard series. The Sherry One is one of them. In addition to bourbon casks, the Speysider also matured in PX and Oloroso casks: cigars, butterscotch, mocha, figs, and more. 48%
A special bottling for the French La Maison du Whisky, this Michter’s bourbon whiskey. We don't dare say how old this bourbon is, but that could be surprising. Michter's bourbon is made according to a recipe from 1753. (45.7%)
According to our records, Michter’s Distillery is closed. But we still have this Single Barrel straight rye whiskey for the enthusiast. Woodchips, liquorice, maple and cough syrup are the dominant notes, with flowers and pepper underneath. 42.4%
This single malt whisky from M&H Distillery aged in a rather special cask: an ex-sherry cask that previously held Ledaig whisky, the peated Tobermory version. The Ledaig influence is clearly recognizable in this pleasantly drinkable 3-year-old malt. 53.4%
In the APEX series, Tel Aviv's M&H Distillery releases this 3-year-old single malt whisky, aged in casks that previously held fortified red wine. The whisky is distilled from peated barley malt. An earthy dram with hints of peat smoke and tobacco. (55.3%)
This M&H single malt whisky matured for 4 years in white port casks. The influence of these ex-dessert wine casks is mainly found in the rich honey-like notes. This is the 4th edition in the Art & Craft - Dessert Wine Casks series, bottled at 53.6%.
The Milk & Honey Distillery comes here with its first 'Classic' single malt whisky. As the Israeli distillery only started production in 2014, this is also still a young whisky. But it already has body! Matured in bourbon, finished in wine casks. 46%
Since 2007, Zuidam Distillers has been releasing rye whisky and Dutch single malt whisky bottlings under the Millstone label. A single malt released in 2024 is this 6-year-old dram matured in Oloroso sherry casks. At 46% and for a reasonable price.
This Millstone Special No28 is young at 5 years, but surprises with its elegance and complexity. The single malt whisky is distilled from heavily peated malt in a process of slow fermentation and distillation. It matured in Tawny port casks. (46% ABV)
As the label indicates, this Dutch Single Malt Whisky from the Zuidam distillery matured for 10 years in Oloroso sherry casks. In 2019, Zuidam won gold with an Oloroso-matured malt at the Wizards of Whisky Awards. This bottling is no less! (46%)
A new 100 whisky by the Dutch Zuidam distillery. A 100 Rye Whisky: 100 proof, about 100 months old, 100% rye, 100% milled by Dutch mills, 100% small pot still distillation, 100% aged in new American oak and... well, too many 100% to mention! A 100% whisky
This is a very special Millstone bottling: although Zuidam Distillers released its first Dutch Single Malt Whisky in 2007, the spirit for this edition went already in 1996 in the (Oloroso) cask! The whisky matured there for 19 years. (300 bottles, 49.4%)
Zuidam Distillers released its first Dutch Single Malt Whisky in 2007. Dozens of bottlings later, in 2015, there was this 5-year-old Millstone Lightly Peated. As the name suggests, this is a lightly peated single malt. Bottled at 40%.
This is a rye whisky from the Dutch distillery Zuidam. The '92' stands for the strength of this whisky: 92 proof (= 46%). The whisky is distilled in small pot stills from 49% malted and 51% unmalted rye and matured in virgin American oak casks.
The Dutch Zuidam Distillers not only makes genever, liqueurs and gin, but also whisky. This is one of their single malt whiskies: the Millstone American Oak, made with both brewer's and distiller's yeast and matured in virgin American oak. (43%)
