On the banks of the Clyde, just above Glasgow, there is since the beginning of the 19th century a distillery, now called Auchentoshan . In World War II the company was hit by German bombs, in 1969 new, steam-heated pot stills have been installed. Almost all Scottish distillers have a 2-course distillation process, Auchentoshan, as one of the very few, does it in 3 courses (triple distillation). That gives a lighter spirit. The distillery bottling label proudly says ‘The triple distilled Auchentoshan single malt whisky’.
