Kilchoman Islay’s Farm Distillery is named after the parish on whisky island Islay within which the distillery was established in 2005. The idea behind Kilchoman was that of a 'farm distillery', as it once started, where single malt whisky is made in the traditional way and with raw materials from the area. The Kilchoman whisky is made from peated malt from barley from the area or from heavier peated malt from Port Ellen Maltings, also located on Islay.
