Kilchoman Islay’s Farm Distillery is named after the parish on whisky island Islay within which the distillery was established in 2005. The idea behind Kilchoman was that of a 'farm distillery', as it once started, where single malt whisky is made in the traditional way and with raw materials from the area. The Kilchoman whisky is made from peated malt from barley from the area or from heavier peated malt from Port Ellen Maltings, also located on Islay.
This is already the 14th edition of the Kilchoman 100% Islay single malt whisky. In this 100% Islay series, all the steps, from sowing barley to bottling, have been taken on Islay. This edition matured for 9 years in bourbon and Oloroso casks. (50%)
This is an early edition of the Kilchoman 100% Islay whisky. This peated malt from farm distillery Kilchoman is the only Single Farm Single Malt Scotch Whisky on whisky island Islay. Distilled from their own barley, aged and bottled on their own premises.
The fact that single malt whisky often matures in sherry casks is nothing special, but maturation in fino sherry casks is. Fino is a dry sherry that matured under a layer of yeast, the 'flor'. That gives an extra taste experience to this Kilchoman. (50%)
A standard bottling of the Kilchoman Distillery, founded in 2005 on Islay. They produce the only 'single farm malt' from self-malted Islay barley. Matured on bourbon and sherry, the Machir Bay is medium smoky with sweet notes, citrus and vanilla. 46%.
It is clear that this single malt whisky from Kilchoman matured in PX sherry casks: together with the peated distillery profile, there are notes such as ripe cherries and other red fruits, passion fruit, liquorice chocolate and even something meaty. (50%)
A true Islay single malt whisky, this Kilchoman Sanaig. This release of Islay’s youngest distillery aged on bourbon and was finished on sherry casks. A whisky with body and a nice combination of peat smoke and sherry notes for a great price!
