Williamson is not a distillery, as the labels of some bottlings suggest. It is the cover name for a whisky from a well-known distillery, and it can be a single malt whisky, or a blended malt whisky. In the latter case, it is one in the 'teaspooned' malt whisky category. In addition, a teaspoon full of another single malt is put in a cask of the single malt whisky. The teaspooned malt may then no longer be named after its distillery. And that distillery shouldn't be mentioned on the label either. With a little thought we will figure out which distillery is hidden behind the name Williamson. We know it is one of the Islay distilleries that make peated whisky.
