Under the name Longrow Springbank Distillery releases a peated malt. Smoke, peat, and malt are clearly present, along with salt, citrus, and, for example, grass. And there is the influence of the bourbon and sherry casks in which this batch matured. (46%)
Taiwan's Yuan Shan Distillery makes single malt whisky under the Kavalan brand. It is best known for its Soloist single-cask bottlings, of which several thousand have already been released. This Soloist matured in an Oloroso sherry cask. (55.6% ABV)
Japan’s Yasato Distillery presents a distinctive Hinumaro bottling: a single malt whisky matured in a sakura cask—a cask crafted from Japanese cherry wood. Combined with an ABV of 65%, this makes for an intense whisky experience.
This Hinomaru single malt whisky from the young Japanese Yasato Distillery was bottled in 2026 for the Dutch company 3006 Whisky. The whisky matured for 5 years in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask and was bottled at a robust cask strength of 61% ABV.
This 5-year-old single malt whisky was released in 2026 as part of the Single Cask – Cask Strength series from Hinomaru, a young Japanese brand from the Yasato Distillery. It matured in a cream sherry cask and was bottled at a cask strength of 60.8% ABV.
This Hinomaru single malt whisky comes from the Japanese Yasato Distillery—part of the two-century-old Kiuchi Brewing, a classic sake producer. The malt matured for five years in a Fino sherry cask (cask number 1047) and was bottled at a potent 64% ABV.
Glenkinchie represents the Lowlands in Diageo’s Classic Malts series, but otherwise we don’t see many bottlings of this single malt. Yet here is one: an 18-year-old, bourbon-matured bottling in Douglas Laing’s Old Particular series. Bottled at 48.4%.
As part of their renowned Old Particular series, Douglas Laing released a single malt whisky from an undisclosed Speyside distillery. The whisky matured for 10 years in an Oloroso sherry cask, yielding 420 bottles at a robust 64.5% ABV.
VII The Chariot is a heavily peated version of the single malt whisky from Japan’s Saburomaru Distillery. The whisky is distilled using the unique cast-metal Zemon pot stills—installed a few years ago—which lend the spirit its distinctive character. (48%)
Japan’s Wakatsuru Saburomaru Distillery uses unique, cast Zemon pot stills, giving its whisky a distinctive flavour profile. This is evident in 'VII The Chariot' a heavily peated version of their single malt, bottled at a cask strength of 59.0% ABV.
This Secret Lowland single malt was released as part of Douglas Laing's 'Old Particular: Fanatical About Flavour' collection. This 13-year-old Lowlander was finished in an orange wine cask and bottled at a cask strength of 52.1%. Expect orange notes.
This is truly a unique release from ‘Islay’s Farm Distillery’ Kilchoman. While finishing whisky in Cognac casks is not unusual, this peated single malt whisky matured entirely in Cognac casks for its full 6 years! That certainly sparks curiosity! 50% ABV

For the Old Particular Christmas Edition 2026, Douglas Laing bottled a single malt whisky from an undisclosed Speyside distillery. The whisky matured for 8 years in a large sherry cask, a butt, yielding 674 bottles at a strength of 61% ABV.
India’s John Distilleries presents the Paul John Christmas Edition 2026 in a festively illustrated tube. The single malt whisky matured in Moscatel casks before being bottled at 48% ABV. Notes of orange blossom, malty honey, dark chocolate, and more.
Yet another Chairman’s Choice in Douglas Laing’s renowned Old Particular series! It is a 20-year-old Strathclyde. This Lowlands single grain whisky matured in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask, yielding 72 bottles at the series' signature strength of 48.4%.
Among Douglas Laing’s new Old Particular bottlings, there are several finished in less common casks. This is the case, for example, with this 12-year-old Benrinnes single malt, which has been finished in a Purple Muscatel cask. Bottled at 48.4% ABV.
Speyside distillery Linkwood has been producing single malt for two centuries. Much of it goes into blended Scotch, but the whisky is also a favourite among independent bottlers: see this 10-year-old, sherry-finished Douglas Laing bottling. (48.4% ABV)
You don’t see a single malt whisky finished in a former Merlot wine cask every day. But this is one: a 12-year-old Mannochmore, bottled by Douglas Laing at 48.4% ABV as part of their renowned Old Particular series. And at a very attractive price.

It is not without reason that this Arran bottling is named Sherry Serenade: the single malt from the Isle of Arran matured in Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, and Amontillado casks. This bottling is the fourth and final release in Arran’s Signature Series. (50%)
