Bottler Signatory Vintage once released bottlings in 350 ml bottles with screw caps. Here is one: a Caol Ila single malt whisky distilled in 1982, which then matured in a bourbon cask for 13 years before being bottled at 43%. And now it is a rarity.
The Japanese Fuji Gotemba distillery produces various types of whisky, including single malt. This malt was matured in a combination of bourbon and beer casks (the latter sourced from the Kirin Brewery). A pleasant, elegant, and fruity dram. (46% ABV)
The Fuji Gotemba Distillery has been located at the foot of Mount Fuji in Japan since 1973. It produces various types of whisky using different types of stills. This bottling is a blend of their malt and grain whiskies. Silky and complex in flavour. (43%)
This Paul John single malt was released to mark the 30th anniversary of Dutch drinks merchant Bresser & Timmer. The whisky matured for 5 years in the tropical climate of Goa in a Ruby Port cask. Light notes of peat smoke; fruity and sweet. (57.3% ABV)
A small bottle with truly exceptional contents: 50 ml of a Macallan single malt whisky distilled in 1948! We do not know its maturation period or the type of cask used for this Speyside whisky, but one thing is certain: it is a unique gem! (46.6%)
30 years ago, Cadenhead released this 26-year-old Dumbarton single malt whisky. Single malt? Indeed—Dumbarton was a grain distillery, but the Inverleven malt distillery also stood on the site until 1991. Dumbarton itself closed its doors in 2002. (49.5%)
In 2009, bottler Adelphi released this heavily sherried, 12-year-old single malt whisky—labelled as a 'Laudale'. We now know from reliable sources that this name refers to Glenfarclas, a distillery still renowned for its sherried whisky. (46% ABV)
This Glenfiddich is the Clan Maclean edition from the former Clan series, released under the Special Old Reserve label. The bottle dates back to the last century and contains a single malt whisky of unknown age. That leaves much to discover! (43%)
This is a truly old Glenfiddich bottling! We do not know exactly when the single malt whisky was bottled or how old it is. We do know, however, that this is a Special Old Reserve—a Clan Macdonald or Clanranald from the Clan series. Intriguing! (43%)
This Glenmorangie Madeira Wood Finish is among the first 100 whiskies registered on Whiskybase (now numbering nearly 300,000). Glenmorangie was also one of the first distilleries to focus on finishing its single malt. This one is a fine example. (43%)
At a time when whisky finishing was not yet as common as it is today, bottler Wilson & Morgan released this 16-year-old Longmorn single malt whisky, finished in a Cognac cask. A creamy, highly drinkable dram, bottled at 46% ABV.
A distinctive whisky, this That Try from the Penderyn Distillery: the bottle itself and the label illustration are far from standard. And then the normally unpeated single malt itself: it is finished in casks that previously held peated Islay whisky. 41%
This Old Rhosdhu—a fruity, floral single malt produced at the time by the Loch Lomond Distillery—went into the cask in 1985 and was bottled nine years later, in 1994, by Cadenhead for their Authentic Collection at a robust cask strength of 60.5% ABV.
Macallan Reflexion was released in 2018, presented in a distinctively designed bottle as part of The Masters Decanter Series. The single malt whisky matured in carefully selected 1st-fill sherry casks made of Spanish and American oak.(43%; score 90.7)
You can pick up this 16-year-old Glen Garioch at a great price. The spirit for this Highland single malt whisky was filled into a (bourbon) cask in 2010 and bottled from it by Maltbarn in 2026 at 57.7% ABV. 'You are the everything,' the label reads.
The Glen Spey distillery has always flown under the radar, as the vast majority of its single malt goes into blends. Bottlings like this one demonstrate that the single malt is certainly worth experiencing. It matured for 24 years in a sherry cask. 53.8%
'walked swam hunted danced sang' says the label of this Maltbarn bottling. Could that be a clue about which Orkney distillery this is? No idea, but one thing is certain: the single malt whisky matured for 20 years in a bourbon cask. (51.5% ABV)
In addition to single malt and blended whisky, the German bottler Maltbarn also bottles single grain whisky. This is a fine example: an Invergordon grain whisky matured for 29 years in a sherry cask. That cask yielded 141 bottles at an ABV of 56.0%.
'We are hope despite the times' reads the label on the Maltbarn bottling. Inside the bottles is a 19-year-old Caol Ila single malt. This classic, peated Islay whisky matured in a bourbon cask. A dram to take your mind off things! (131 bottles; 52.9% ABV)
A Turntable blend of Knockdhu, Mannochmore, Loch Lomond, and North British, matured in four types of casks. Funky yet delicate, the blended whisky bursts with exotic flavours: a harmony of caramelized pineapple, smooth vanilla, and sweet toffee. (46%)
Blending House Turntable lists the whiskies and cask types used for their blends. For Bittersweet Symphony, these are Balmenach, Blair Athol, and Craigellachie (malts) and North British (grain), matured in PX, Oloroso, and virgin oak casks. (46%)
Just a little different from the well-known bourbons, yet still very reasonably priced. Old Bardstown Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is distilled according to an old recipe and offers a wide range of flavours: from citrus to syrup, smoke, and wood. 45%
Craigellachie single malt is a key component of Dewar's blends, but it also stands tall as a single malt bottling in its own right. This edition matured for 23 years in a bourbon cask before being bottled by Taiwanese bottler Scout Drinks in 2026. (51.2%)
The young Taiwanese bottler Scout Drinks has quickly built a strong reputation. Their bottlings have received high to very high ratings, and this Bunnahabhain is sure to be no exception. This Islay single malt matured for 21 years in a bourbon cask. 49.8%
