A nice sherried single malt. Solid with layers of complexity. The influence of the sherry cask isn't overpowering the whisky at all, leaving enough space for the delicate dried fruits and warming spices to come through. Pleasantly quaffable!

Michter’s calls this bottling an Unblended American Whiskey because it cannot be called a bourbon: the whiskey matured not in new oak barrels, but in ex-bourbon barrels. That maturation on bourbon ensures at least a more intense, fuller taste!
The oldest of the single malt core series from Glenallachie, which previously produced almost exclusively blended whisky. Matured in American oak and PX sherry casks, filled at 48%. A delicious single malt, this 25-year-old Speyside.
Released on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Bladnoch Distillery. This single malt is a mix of whisky that matured on bourbon and Samsara wine casks. This resulted in a complex, yet easily drinkable dram. Not a moment boring, this Bladnoch.
This Elijah Craig bourbon whiskey is a Small Batch release. The small batch process provides a more balanced and smooth whiskey. This pleasant, warm bourbon from the Heaven Hill family matured in charred oak barrels and has an ABV of 47%.
A blend of Highland single malt whiskies, that is Douglas Laing’s Timorous Beastie. In this blended malt, malts such as Dalmore, Glengoyne and Glen Garioch form a successful combination. Surprisingly spicy on a creamy basis of sweet fruits. At 46.8%.
This rye whiskey from the FEW Spirits distillery in Illinois, USA, is produced according to traditional methods. That produces a rye whiskey with fruity, sweet-spicy notes, the smell of rye bread and some pepper and pine in the taste. A real rye!
With this 12-year-old single malt and for this price, Speyside distillery Knockandopresents a good entry-level whiskey. With the floral and fruity notes of the region and notes of vanilla, raisins and nuts, this is, at 43%, a pleasantly drinkable dram.
The extra rye in the Bulleit bourbon whiskey recipe gives it its own character. Matured for 10 years on charred new oak and bottled at 45.6%: this results in a bourbon with an excellent price / quality ratio.
The Morven is the peated standard bottling of the young Wolfburn distillery. Smoke is clearly but not intrusive present, in the palette. There are also notes of caramel, malt, hay and nuts and, ultimately, some fruit. Worth trying!
For this money perhaps the best blended whisky that can be found! If the cheaper blends quickly give a watery, flat impression, this Highland Queen is quite full of aroma and taste and can compete with some sherried single malts. A real bargain!
A good introduction to the single malt whisky from Speyside distillery Tamnavulin, this Double Cask edition. Certainly also considering the price. The whisky matured in bourbon casks and was finished in sherry casks. At 40% no powerhouse, but a light dram
Does it matter which Islay distillery this bottling is from? For those who love smoky, sherryed whisky, this Finlaggan is an affordable option: not complex, balanced and pleasant to drink, with the peated and maritime notes of an Islay whisky.
The age of the Penderyn Celt single malt whisky from Wales is unknown, but it is young. We do know that it finished on Islay quarter casks (Laphroaig?). That gives a touch of smoke to the taste and finish of this otherwise light dram.

For those who want to try single malt whisky, this 12-year-old Aberfeldy is a good choice.

This ageless single malt whisky from the Japanese Yoichi distillery is a pleasantly drinkable and surprisingly full dram. Lots of fruit, green tea, milk chocolate to name a few, with a hint of salty smoke. Why not try a Japanese whisky like this?
