Port Ellen single malt certainly belongs in the ranks of legendary whiskies. And this particular bottling comes from the near-legendary Silver Seal. The cask yielded 148 bottles of this 26-year-old, peated Islay malt, bottled at 50% ABV. (score: 91.3)
Well, what more is there to say... a 37-year-old (!) Port Ellen single malt whisky, distilled in 1978 and bottled in 2016 at 55.2% cask strength. On Whiskybase, this legendary malt scores well over 92 points. A perfect peated dram and collector's item.
This 8-year-old, sherry-matured Aberlour—bottled for the Italian market in the early 1970s—is an 'unblended all-malt Scotch whisky,' or what we nowadays call single malt whisky. It is an excellent dram, judging by its score of nearly 89 points. (50% ABV)
As part of The Iberian Series, the Midleton Distillery (1975–) released this Redbreast PX Edition in 2021. This Irish single pot still whisky matured in bourbon and Oloroso casks and is finished in PX casks. It is a rich, balanced and syrupy dram. (46%)
Due to a vatting error at a northern Highland distillery, Living Souls is able to offer us this bottling of a 'mostly unpeated' single malt from that distillery, blended with a small amount of the distillery's peated malt. (16 years old; 52.1% ABV).
The Carsebridge grain distillery closed in 1993 and is partially demolished. Yet, very occasionally, a single grain bottling from the distillery is still released—like this one from Living Souls! The whisky matured for 50 years in a bourbon cask! (56.3%)
Living Souls presents a bottling of a 19-year-old Glen Moray, finished in an Amoroso sherry cask. It is a rich, full-bodied single malt featuring notes such as nougat, boiled sweets, and honeyed malt. The Speysider is bottled at 50.5% ABV.
We have new Living Souls bottlings on the shelves again, and this is one of them. It is a 15-year-old, bourbon-matured Tamnavulin single malt whisky. This bottling offers a great insight into the appealing profile of this Speysider. (48% ABV)
This Glen Garioch bottling from the renowned Italian bottler Samaroli scores over 93 points! Distilled in 1975, this Highland single malt whisky was bottled 15 years later at 57.0%. A classic, top-notch dram: complex, balanced, and delicious!
This is a Springbank Private Bottling, which is likely why it has flown under the radar. The single malt was bottled at 40.5% in 2010, at the age of 34! There isn't much more to say about it, other than the fact that two tasters gave it a very high score!
Look at the screw cap, look at the label, look at the text on the label (pot still pure malt, 75˚ proof, 26 ⅔ fluid ounces): we are dealing here with a truly old bottling of Highland Park single malt whisky! Be the first to write a review! (43%)
Back in the last century—unlike in much of the rest of the world—there was already significant interest in Italy in exceptional single malts; take, for instance, this 25-year-old, sherried Macallan Pure Highland Malt. A true 'old school' classic! (43%)
This Macallan single malt was distilled in 1963 and bottled for the Italian market some 17 years later, in 1980. Although the label doesn't state it, we can assume it is a sherry-matured whisky. A refined and creamy dram. (43% ABV; Whiskybase score: 92,3)
This is a fifty-year-old bottling of a 37-year-old Strathisla single malt whisky, distilled in 1937. We don't often have them on offer like this! It also scores more than 91 points, this 'licensed bottling' from Gordon & MacPhail. (70 proof or 40% ABV)
This is the first edition of Benromach's Cask Strength series featuring the 2015 vintage. This 10-year-old, subtly smoky single malt whisky offers notes of stewed fruit, cinnamon, fresh citrus, and black pepper. Bottled at cask strength, of course: 58.8%.
Ardmore Distillery is known for its lightly peated single malt whisky. You can find various core bottlings from the distillery at liquor stores, but this is a single-cask bottling: 759 unique bottles of an 11-year-old, sherry-matured Ardmore. (46% ABV)
Highland distillery Tomatin produces the 'Portuguese Collection' series. Released in 2022, this edition is a 15-year-old single malt finished in Moscatel de Setúbal casks. It offers fresh, fruity, spicy, and sweet notes, along with a long finish. (46%)
Port Askaig is the brand under which Elixir Distillers releases bottlings of peated Islay single malt whisky. This edition matured in a sherry cask. The resulting sherry notes are perfectly balanced with the whisky's distillery character. (50.5% ABV)
A fine whisky from 2006 is this bottling from the BenRiach distillery—part of the 'Authenticus' series of peated editions. It is a 21-year-old single malt matured in bourbon and sherry casks. A distinctive, very drinkable dram. (46% ABV)
Not much is known about this 'Legendary' 10-year-old single malt from bottler Blackadder. Rumours suggest it is an Imperial, but this cannot be conclusively proven. However, the nose and palate do point towards a Speyside whisky. (43%)
After four years of silence, Tormore Distillery is back with new bottlings—including this 16-year-old single malt finished in carefully selected sherry casks. A creamy, oily whisky with notes of dried fruit, spicy oak, nuts, raisins and vanilla. (46.8%)
For four years, no new bottlings were released from the Tormore Distillery, but production resumed in 2026. This 12-year-old Tormore single malt matured in an intriguing variety of casks: bourbon, cream sherry, and toasted American white oak. (46% ABV)
After a four-year hiatus, Tormore Distillery was relaunched in 2026 under its new owner, Elixir Distillers. This 'Timeless' is part of that new lineup. The single malt matured in bourbon and sherry casks. Offered at an attractive introductory price! (43%)
This Benromach has matured for 12 years in 1st-fill sherry casks. This resulted in a full-bodied, oily single malt whisky featuring—of course—sherry notes such as cocoa, tobacco, and cherries, but also smoky and meaty notes, apple, mint, and peat. (46%)
