Blackadder, founded in 1995 in Surrey, England by Robin Tucek, has till now released more than 1000 bottlings in various series. The best known series of this small family business is the Raw Cask. As they say themselves, this is about 'old school' whiskies as they would have come out of the cask in a bar in 18th-century Scotland. In the Raw Cask bottles you will always find wafers of cask residue that other bottlers filter out.
Blackadder played an important role in popularizing single malt whisky at cask strength.
Ingelred is a Scandinavian label under bottler Blackadder's supervision, mainly releasing Ben Nevis single malt whiskies, such as this one. The 11-year-old Highlander, with its dark amber colour, matured in a Marsala cask and is bottled at 51.7%.
In 2007, this Ben Nevis was vatted in a bourbon cask and then transferred in 2021 to a PX cask for finishing. However, due to corona, the single malt remained in that cask much longer than intended. That resulted in a nicely sherried dram! (15 y, 50.2%)
