Jack Wiebers Whisky World, based in Berlin, has been a whisky importer and independent bottler since 1998. Till now, Wiebers has about 900 bottlings on his name, all single cask.
A well-known series is the Classic of Islay with several editions per year. Series such as Das Gestohlene Schiff and Old Train Lane are also known for their beautiful labels
This is a special bottle in more ways than one: it is a Bunnahabhain single malt whisky that is no less than 31 years old, and, besides that, it is from a Jack Wiebers bottling from 2008, with a vintage of 1976! The malt aged in a sherry cask. (46.5%)
This bottling from Jack Wiebers is especially for the Dutch market. The story of Droppie can be read in detail on the back label. In Dutch. The bottle itself contains a 9-year-old undisclosed Islay single malt whisky matured in a sherry cask. (51.6%)
When this Jack Wiebers bottling was released in 2006, the Glenglassaugh Distillery had been mothballed for twenty years (only to reopen in 2008). The single malt whisky in this bottling matured for 20 years in a sherry cask and was bottled at 54.6%.
After an eventful existence, the Dallas Dhu distillery closed in 1983, after which fewer and fewer bottlings of this single malt whisky were released in the following years. In 2007, there was this Jack Wiebers bottling, 32 years old, bourbon-aged, 51.1%.
