Allt-á-Bhainne is a modern Speyside distillery that was built in 1975 as a malt whisky supplier for the blends of Chivas Regal, Passport and 100 Pipes. The entire production process of Allt-á-Bhainne is in the hands of one process operator. The distillery also does not have its own warehouse. It is therefore not surprising that almost all single malt bottlings from Allt-á-Bhainne come from independent bottlers.
The Allt-á-Bhainne Distillery opened in the last century to provide single malt whisky for blends such as Chivas Regal. Anyone who wants to taste this single malt has to rely on third-party bottlings like this one. Aged in a bourbon cask and 23 years old.
This 22 year old Allt-a-Bhainne single malt whisky first matured in bourbon hogsheads, but the final 27 months were spent in a first-fill sherry cask. Signatory Vintage bottled it at 52.3% in their Cask Strength Collection. A perfectly sherried dram.
