After a history of fires, explosions and a bombing raid by the Luftwaffe, Banff Distillery, founded in Deveron, Speyside in 1824, was finally shut down in 1983. In 1991 the last warehouse went up in flames. There is little left of Banff now.
Until 2017, independent bottlers still released single malt whisky from Banff. A bottle of Banff single malt is a collector's item nowadays.
To celebrate its 35th anniversary, the Italian quality bottler Samaroli released this almost 30-year-old, sherry-matured Banff single malt whisky in 2003. Banff whisky is already a collector's item, but this Samaroli edition is extra special! (45% ABV)
