Burnside is one of those 'secret' brands that independent bottlers use if they are not allowed to mention the name of the distillery. And then, like Wardhead, Burnside is the brand of a 'teaspooned' blended malt: Before bottling of the single malt from one distillery a teaspoon of the single malt from another distillery is added (and even that of the teaspoon is not always true). Cadenhead, Scotland's oldest independent bottler, presents a Burnside (a blend of The Balvenie single malt whisky and a teaspoon of Glenfiddich) that matured for a whopping 28 years in bourbon casks. Expect notes of tutti-frutti and toffee. (46% ABV)
