In 2004, the Chichibu Distillery was the first new distillery to open in Japan since 1973. It was founded by Ichiro Akuto, descendant of a family of distillers. The high quality of the whisky produced by Chichibu was soon noticed, and these days new editions are flying out: they are often collector's items right away. The distillery is named after the town Chichibu, near Tokyo.
The Chichibu distillery, which opened in 2004, quickly achieved collector 's-item status for its high quality. This also applies to new bottlings like this 7-year-old single malt whisky, a single-cask bottling. (first-fill bourbon barrel, 65.8% ABV).
