Founded in the middle of Speyside in 1836, the Glenfarclas distillery is one of the few 'family' distilleries in Scotland. Glenfarclas is also a distillery that has been releasing distillery bottlings for a long time. And among these there are a number of bottles with a very high rating, such as the 55-year-old Glenfarclas 1958. The distillery is best known for its sherried single malt whiskies.
Also in terms of price this 10 year old Glenfarclas is a fine 'entry-level' single malt. Light, fruity 'Speyside' tones combined with malt, a hint of smoke and the sweetness of sherry make this whisky easy to drink. At 40%.
In 2011, Glenfarclas celebrated its 175th anniversary with this bottling: a mix of strongly sherried single malt whiskies from the 1950s and 1960s (the oldest cask from 1952!) and fruitier malts from subsequent years. A festive bottling for sure! (43%)
A special The Family Casks bottling from Speyside distillery Glenfarclas. In 1987 the single malt whisky went into the cask, a refill sherry cask, and more than 30 years later in 2018 it was bottled at a cask strength of 46% in an edition of 588 bottles.
This is the vintage 1989 bottling in the Summer 2021 series, aged in a sherry cask of course. Bottled at 51.9%.
A famous range of sherried single malt whiskies is The Family Casks by Glenfarclas. Cask strength bottlings and matured in sherry casks. They are single-cask bottlings, so each edition is unique. This one is 27 years old and bottled at 50.2% cask strength
This Glenfarclas single malt whisky is one of the many bottlings from the famous The Family Casks series of this Speyside distillery. It is about 24 years old and, of course, matured in a sherry cask. It was bottled at 53.9% cask strength in 597 bottles.
Bottled about 20 years ago already, this 21 year old Glenfarclas. You can see the old label on the bottle and a golden G in the glass. The bottle contains a firmly sherried single malt whisky, dark in colour, complex flavor palette and a long aftertaste.
A 25-year-old single malt for this price ... and if you like well balanced sherried whiskies, then you cannot afford to miss this Glenfarclas! This standard bottling from the New Label series is filled at 43%.
This 30-year-old single malt whisky is one of the standard bottlings from the Glenfarclas distillery. But the term 'standard bottling' does not do this malt justice. We are talking about perfectly sherried whiskies, such as this 2013 edition. (43%)
