The High West Distillery in Park City, Utah, was founded in 2006 by biochemist David Perkins and his wife Jane. It all started with a small still and a real Wild West saloon. The distillery now has a much larger still and several dozen employees. In addition to straight bourbon whiskey, the High West Distillery also produces rye whiskey, oat whiskey (which is very similar to mescal) and blends of all these whiskeys. In 2016, High West was named American Distillery of the Year by Whisky Advocate magazine.
The High West Distillery started in 2006 in Utah as a small distiller. In the meantime, it has grown into a producer of bourbon, rye and even oat whiskey. And this bottling is a blend of straight bourbon whiskeys, also quite special! Bottled at 46%.

This bottling of the High West Distillery, America's Distillery of the Year in 2016, contains a blend of straight rye whiskeys. Earlier batches of this Double Rye! were well appreciated. For straight rye at least 51% of the used grains must be rye. (46%.)
This is no 'normal' rye whiskey that the High West Distillery releases, this is a blend of straight rye whiskeys. And you don't see that often! You really can taste from this bottling that High West was awarded as best distillery in America in 2016. (46%)
