Jack Daniel’s is the brand name for the Tennessee whiskey from the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchnurg, Tennessee, USA.That distillery was founded in 1866 by, indeed, Jack Daniel and was the first officially registered distillery in the US. Tennessee whiskey is actually the same as straight bourbon whiskey. The only difference is that the spirit from the stills first goes through a layer of carbon before it is laid on cask. That carbon filtering softens the whiskey, is the theory. And then there is legislation that states that bourbon made in Tennesse must be called Tennessee whiskey.
If Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey had not been produced in Tennessee, but elsewhere in America, 'bourbon whiskey' would have been on the label. Anyway, are you looking for a whiskey to mix with, then Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 is a great option!
This is not one of those standard Jack Daniel's bottlings that you thoughtlessly throw in some ice cubes. This is a single cask bottling from this well-known Tennessee whiskey brand, and then also at cask strength (64.5%). In a classic-looking bottle.
Jack Daniel's of course is known worldwide as the Tennessee variety of bourbon whiskey. It is much less known that also rye whiskey is released under the Jack Daniel's brand. We have one here, bottled in 2018 for the German market. Try one? (45%)
Something different from the well-known Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey. This is a blend of American malt, rye whiskey, and that bourbon-like Tennessee whiskey. The blend matured for 4 years in charred American oak barrels in a certified warehouse. (50%)
Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey is a kind of bourbon. The difference is that the Jack Daniel's spirit first goes through a carbon filter and only then on the barrel. For a smoother taste. The Gentleman Jack is filtered twice and therefore even smoother.
