Kilkerran is the brand name under which the single malt whisky from the Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown is released. When we talk about the Glengyle Distillery, this is the distillery that was built at the beginning of this century in and on the remains of an earlier Glengyle Distillery that was closed in 1925.The brand name Kilkerran was chosen because the name Glengyle was already used for a Highland blended malt and the right to the name belongs to Loch Lomond. Kilkerran is the name of the vault in which one Sint Kerran lived, where Campbeltown is now located.
