In March 2019, the first new make spirit came out of the stills of the Lagg Distillery on the Isle of Arran. The first bottling of Lagg single malt whisky appeared in 2022. So, in addition to the Isle of Arran Distillery in the north of the island, there is now a second distillery in the south. Unlike the first distillery, Lagg makes a peated whisky based on an old Arran recipe. A whisky with a rich, earthy and complex taste.
This is a single-cask bottling from Lagg, exclusive to the Dutch market. This heavily peated Arran single malt matured for 5 years in a 1st-fill bourbon cask and is bottled at 59%. A full-bodied, warming, and well-balanced dram with a smoky character.
In 2022, the first bottling of Lagg single malt whisky was released. Unlike the older Arran Distillery, the young distillery on Arran makes a peated malt, according to an old Arran recipe. This 3-year-old Kilmory Edition matured in bourbon casks. (46%)
This Lagg—the peated single malt from Arran—was released after 6 years of maturation in bourbon quarter casks. The smaller the cask, the greater its influence. That certainly holds true for this expression—alongside, of course, notes of peat smoke. (56%)
