In 2017, the owners of Lochlea Farm in Scotland's South Ayrshire (Lowlands) decided to convert their mixed farm, once home to famed poet and whisky enthusiast Robert Burns, into a distillery. The first new make spirit, made from their own barley, came out of the stills in 2018 and the first Lochlea single malt whisky was bottled in 2021. It is worth noting that the production is led by John Campbell, for many years the successful production manager of the Laphroaig Distillery.
In 2018 the first spirit came from the to distillery converted Lochlea farm in the Scottish Lowlands, made from their own barley. And this is the first bottling at cask strength of their single malt whisky. Aged in bourbon and Oloroso casks. (60.1%)
After the First Release in 2021, the Sowing Edition and the Harvest Edition No. 1, there is now the Harvest Second Edition from distillery Lochlea, a family business that makes single malt whisky from its own barley. Matured in bourbon, STR and port casks
