The Milk & Honey Whisky Distillery, based in Tel Aviv, Israel, started the first distillation round in 2014. In 2018 the first single malt whiskies have been released, and before that a number of experimental spirit bottlings. The Milk & Honey Whisky Distillery is set up by a number of whisky-enthusiast entrepreneurs who dreamed of an Israeli single malt.
In the new Art & Craft series from the Israeli M&H Distillery, the single malt whisky matures in traditional casks. This edition aged for 3 years in the warm environment of the Dead Sea in Doppelbock beer casks from the Ha'aretz brewery. At cask strength.
For a Scotch whisky, 3 years is very young. That is different with this Israeli single malt whisky from M&H. The whisky matured for 3 years at the Dead Sea, the lowest place and one of the warmest in the world. And heat makes whisky mature quickly! 56.5%
As The Milk & Honey Distillery proudly states on the label, this is as yet the only single malt whisky matured in pomegranate wine casks. This bottling is released in the APEX series of the Israeli distillery, so a highlight! Bottled at 57.2%.
The bottlings of the Scottish Thompson Brothers get good marks. The brothers have a good idea of when a whisky is ready to be bottled, and that will also be the case with this 4-year-old M&H single malt-whisky that matured in a bourbon cask. (57.1% ABV)
Probably the first single malt whisky to mature in Israeli chardonnay casks. This cask strength bottling of the young Tel Aviv-based Milk & Honey Distillery is 3 years old. That is young, and therefore of a robust alcohol percentage (61.2%).
