The Stauning Whisky Distillery was founded in 2005 just outside the town of Stauning in Jutland, Denmark, by a group of whisky enthusiasts. The distillery focuses on the traditional distillation of single malt and rye whisky, with the concept of terroir central: grain and peat come from the region and Stauning has its own malting floor. Furthermore, they heat their stills in the traditional way with a direct fire. In 2015, liquor giant Diageo invested a substantial amount in the distillery.
A single malt whisky from the Danish Stauning distillery that values things like terroir and craftsmanship. This limited edition is 4 years old and matured in bourbon, madeira and port casks. Bottled at 51,5%, for the Stauning Whisky Society.
Rye whisky mainly comes from the US and Canada. However, this is a 'single rye' whisky from the Danish Stauning, finished in a Moscatel cask and bottled at cask strength by Berry Bros & Rudd. At 4 years old, a young whisky, but with a mature taste palette
The Stauning Distillery is located on the west coast of Denmark. Stauning makes whisky according to classic rules. They malt the grain themselves as they did with the rye for this whisky. It matured for 3 years in vermouth casks and American virgin oak.
