Confusing brand, that The Deveron. The label states that it is from the Deveron Distillery Co., and that it is distilled in the MacDuff Distillery. This Highland distillery, MacDuff, releases its own single malt whisky bottlings under the Glen Deveron brand. We don't know a Deveron Distillery. Who knows what this is all about? We would love to hear from you!
This 12-year-old single malt whisky from the Macduff distillery is a fine entry-level dram. Sweet notes in the nose like cake, sherbet, vanilla and even perfume. On the palate it is greasy with notes of dried fruit, butter and oak. And conveniently priced
It is a Highland single malt whisky, but with its fruity, flowery lightness, it could very well be a Speysider, this 18-year-old The Deveron. It is a smooth, creamy whisky, without sharp edges. Some would call this a 'summer whisky'. At 40%.
