The Tormore Distillery only opened its doors in mid-Speyside in 1960. Next to the picturesque distillery is a village in the same style, intended for the staff. Tormore was intended as a supplier of single malt whisky for various blends. Although Tormore releases its own single malt bottlings, it is mainly independent bottlers that score well with bottlings of this slightly peated whisky, usually aged in bourbon casks.
This 'The Nailed Puppet' from the Voodoo series by Brave New Spirits is an 11 year old Tormore single malt whisky. The lightly peated Speysider matured in bourbon casks. This resulted in a pleasantly drinkable dram for a reasonable price. (52.6%)
The German bottler Whisky-Fässle regularly manages to select very fine casks. And this bottling is a hit again. It is a 32 year old Tormore single malt whisky. The slightly peated Speyside-malt matured in a bourbon cask and was bottled at 44.1%.
As far as we can judge it, this Tormore single malt whisky has matured on a bourbon barrel. And that for 26 years, that is on the label of this Berry Bros & Rudd bottling. The Speyside malt is bottled at cask strength: 44.5%.
